摘要

Food-web structure mediates dramatic effects of 生物多樣性 loss including secondary and cascading' extinctions. We studied these effects by simulating primary 物種 loss in 16 食物網s from terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and measuring robustness in terms of the secondary extinctions that followed. As observed in other 網絡s, 食物網s are more robust to random removal of 物種 than to selective removal of 物種 with the most 營養級 links to other 物種. More surprisingly, robustness increases with food-web connectance but appears independent of 物種 richness and omnivory. In particular, 食物網s experience rivet-like' thresholds past which they display extreme sensitivity to removal of highly connected 物種. Higher connectance delays the onset of this threshold. Removing 物種 with few 營養級 connections generally has little ef
