摘要
Deciphering the modular organization of metabolic 網絡s and understanding how modularity evolves have attracted tremendous interest in recent years. Here, we present a comprehensive large scale characterization of modularity across the 細菌l tree of life, systematically quantifying the modularity of the metabolic 網絡s of >300 細菌l 物種. Three main determinants of metabolic 網絡 modularity are identified. First, 網絡 size is an important topological determinant of 網絡 modularity. Second, several environmental factors influence 網絡 modularity, with endosymbionts and mammal-specific pathogens having lower modularity scores than 細菌l 物種 that occupy a wider range of niches. Moreover, even among the pathogens, those that alternate between two distinct niches, such as insect and mammal, tend to have relatively
