摘要

In ectothermic organisms, it is hypothesized that metabolic rates mediate influences of temperature on the ecological and 演化ary processes governing 生物多樣性. However, it is unclear how and to what extent the influence of temperature on 代謝 scales up to shape large-scale 多樣性 patterns. In order to clarify the roles of temperature and 代謝, new theory is needed. Here, we establish such theory and model eco-演化ary dynamics of 營養級 網絡s along a broad temperature gradient. In the model, temperature can influence, via 代謝 resource supply, consumers' vital rates and 突變 rate. 突變 causes heritable variation in consumer body size, which diversifies and governs consumer function in the ecological 網絡. The model predicts 多樣性 to increase with temperature if resource supply is temperature-dependent, whereas temperat
