摘要
Question: The 語言-farming dispersal hypothesis postulates that the current biogeographic distribution of global ethnolinguistic 多樣性 is due to prehistoric demic expansions of agri文化 族群s. Does human 族群 size increase as diet is increasingly based on agriculture, and is this relation moderated by agri文化 potential, as predicted by the 語言-farming dispersal hypothesis? Do these patterns hold constant within and between 語言 families? Data: We use a global sample of 805 subsistence-level human societies in 160 語言 families. Method: We regress 族群 size on latitude, agri文化 dependence, and their interaction. We then analyse variation within and between 語言 families. Conclusions: Our results provide strong support for the 語言-farming dispersal hypothesis and suggest that while human 族群 sizes increase rapidly
