摘要
First Paragraph: We hope readers of Trends in 生態學 and 演化 were not discouraged by the recent article by Pennell et al. Is there room for punctuated equilibrium in macro演化? [1], in their attempts to investigate punctuated bouts or pulses of 演化ary change associated with speciation. It is indeed a difficult field of study, but one with promise, and one that can be studied by the patterns predicted to unfold on 系統發育 trees if indeed punctuated bouts of change commonly occur.
