摘要
This study evaluates the extent to which 遺傳 differences among host individuals from the same 物種 condition the 演化 of a plant RNA 病毒. We performed a threefold replicated 演化 experiment in which Tobacco etch poty病毒 isolate At17b (TEV-At17b), adapted to Arabidopsis thaliana ecotype Ler-0, was serially passaged in five 遺傳ally heterogeneous ecotypes of A. thaliana. After 15 passages we found that evolved 病毒es improved their fitness, showed higher infectivity and stronger virulence in their local host ecotypes. The 基因組 of evolved lineages was sequenced and putative adaptive 突變s identified. Host-driven convergent 突變s have been identified. Evidences supported selection for increased translational efficiency.
