摘要
Predicting viral 演化 has proven to be a particularly difficult task, mainly owing to our incomplete knowledge of some of the fundamental principles that drive it. Recently, valuable 資訊 has been provided about 突變 and recombination rates, the role of 遺傳漂變 and the distribution of 突變al, epistatic and pleiotropic fitness effects. However, 資訊 about the topography of 病毒' adaptive landscapes is still scarce, and to our knowledge no data has been reported so far on how its ruggedness may condition 病毒' evolvability. Here, we show that 族群s of an RNA 病毒 move efficiently on a rugged landscape and scape from the basin of attraction of a local optimum. We have evolved a set of Tobacco etch 病毒 genotypes located at increasing distances from a local adaptive optimum in a highly rugged 適應度景觀, and we observed
