摘要

Pathogens often follow more than one 傳播 route during outbreaks-from needle sharing plus sexual 傳播 of HIV to small droplet aerosol plus fomite 傳播 of influenza. Thus, controlling an infectious 疾病 outbreak often requires characterizing the risk associated with multiple mechanisms of 傳播. For example, during the Ebola 病毒 outbreak in West Africa, weighing the relative importance of funeral versus health care worker 傳播 was essential to stopping 疾病 spread. As a result, strategic policy decisions regarding interventions must rely on accurately characterizing risks associated with multiple 傳播 routes. The ongoing Zika 病毒 (ZIKV) outbreak challenges our conventional methodologies for translating case-counts into route-specific 傳播 risk. Critically, most approaches will fail to accurately estimate the ri
