摘要
Successful therapies to combat microbial 疾病s and 癌症s require incorporating ecological and 演化ary principles. Drawing upon the fields of 生態學 and 演化ary biology, we present a systems-based approach in which host and 疾病-causing factors are considered as part of a complex 網絡 of interactions, analogous to studies of "classical" ecosystems. Centering this approach around empirical examples of 疾病 treatment, we present evidence that successful therapies invariably engage multiple interactions with other components of the host ecosystem. Many of these factors interact 非線性ly to yield synergistic benefits and curative outcomes.
