Host-pathogen interactions impose recurrent selective pressures that lead to constant 適應 and counter-適應 in both competing 物種. Here, we sought to study this 演化ary arms-race and assessed the impact of the innate 免疫 system on viral 族群 多樣性 and 演化, using D. melanogaster as model host and its natural pathogen Drosophila C 病毒 (DCV). We first isogenized eight fly genotypes generating animals defective for RNAi, Imd and Toll innate 免疫 pathways and also pathogen sensing and gut renewal pathways. Wild-type or mutant flies were then orally infected and DCV was serially passaged ten times.
