摘要

Complex human cognition arises from the integrated processing of multiple brain systems. However, little is known about how brain systems and their interactions might relate to, or perhaps even explain, human cognitive capacities.在這裡,我們通過提出一個將額頂葉系統活動、默認模式系統活動以及它們之間的相互作用與工作記憶容量的個體差異聯繫起來的機械框架來解決這一知識差距。 We show that working memory performance depends on the strength of functional interactions between the frontoparietal and default mode systems.我們發現這種強度是透過兩個新描述的大腦區域的激活來調節的,並證明這些系統的功能作用是由結構性白質支撐的。從廣義上講,我們的研究全面描述了區域活動、功能連結和結構連結如何共同支持跨大腦系統的整合處理,以便大腦執行複雜的認知過程。
