摘要
Ecologists have long sought to understand how 多樣性 and structure mediate the stability of whole ecosystems. For high-多樣性 食物網s, the interactions between 物種 are typically represented using matrices with randomly chosen interaction strengths. Unfortunately, this procedure tends to produce ecological systems with no underlying equilibrium solution, and so ecological inferences from this approach may be biased by non生物 outcomes. Using recent 計算ly efficient methodological advances from metabolic 網絡s, we employ for the first time an inverse approach to 多樣性–stability research. We compare classical random interaction matrices of realistic 食物網 topology (hereafter the classical model) to feasible, 生物ly constrained, webs produced using the inverse approach. We show that an energetically constrained fea
