摘要
Environmental microbiology is a multidisciplinary area that can encompass field expeditions, 計算 modelling and aseptic culturing techniques in the laboratory. Training at the graduate and postdoctoral stages is often focused on tasks that directly relate to ongoing work within the established research programme of the principal investigator. These projects and other aspects of early-career training also tend to lack collaborative opportunities that span across disciplines, leading to silos between research areas.
